Senior Manager, Operations Support
This position will manage projects, continuous improvement initiatives and support the logistics operations in North America to help provide APL Logistics a competitive edge in its business development efforts and also assist with operational efficiency improvement projects through design of innovative logistics and supply chain solutions in existing operations as well as implementation of solutions for the business won. Specific responsibilities include:
Improve productivity by providing workplace design and manual procedure development; and use human factors to design a safer and more efficient work place,
Conduct an ongoing assessment of the Distribution Center’s capital needs and assist in the development of annual capital budgets
Ensure development, implementation, and support of engineered labor standards including time study.
Assist with analysing annual throughput requirements for the Distribution Centers to ensure targeted sales goals are achieved while aggressively pursuing the high standards of Customer Service for each individual business unit.
Train key personnel on changes introduced through engineering and continuous improvement initiatives.
This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Provide SCS support to business development and sales pursuits – develop creative solutions and responses, manage projects, make customer presentations, and implement solutions.
Provide SCS related support to existing operations and account management activities – develop solutions and manage projects to help improve efficiency and effectiveness of operations, provide support for Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), Executive Business Reviews (EBRs), etc.
Develop SCS marketing collateral and educate internal and external customers on SCS capabilities.
Support and lead company and CLS continuous improvement initiatives.
Mentor and train junior staff members on different aspects of solution design.
Design, develop and help implement creative and innovative supply chain solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of customer supply chains
Develop creative solutions, their value propositions and associated write ups in support of RFP/RFQ/RFI responses
Support company initiatives as needed
Develop SCS collateral (case studies, presentations, training material, etc.) and educate customers on SCS capabilities
Bachelors or Master of Science Degree in Computer Science, Logistics Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Business Management or a related field.
Minimum 5 years experience in supply chain solution design – warehouse design, shipment optimization, network design, etc.; data analytics; IT systems development. Experience with WMS, Labor Management, PowerPoint, Access, AutoCAD or simulation software and development with engineering labor standards experience is preferred.; Proven track record of thought leadership and innovation in solution design and development.
Strong commercial, technical, analytical, problem solving and presentation skills; Strong knowledge of logistics planning, execution and optimization systems; Broad and deep knowledge of optimization and simulation modeling techniques; Excellent oral and written communication skills; Strong project management skills - ability to work in and lead cross-functional teams
